About Dr. Kappius

Dr. Kappius is a board-certified dermatologist committed to exceptional, patient-centered care for the Grand Valley community. She treats the full spectrum of dermatologic conditions, including inflammatory, autoimmune, and infectious skin disorders as well as skin cancer. She sees both pediatric and adult patients, approaching each case with thoroughness and genuine concern for each patient’s wellbeing.

Dr. Kappius believes that an informed patient is an empowered one. She takes pride in listening carefully, explaining diagnoses in plain language, and recommending treatments that fit each individual’s lifestyle – never a one-size-fits-all solution. Her attention to detail and collaborative approach create an environment where patients feel heard, respected, and confident in their care. She is also a passionate advocate for sun safety and helping patients enjoy Colorado’s outdoor lifestyle wisely.

Dr. Kappius lives in the Grand Valley with her husband, a retired professional cyclist. When she’s not in the clinic, she can be found on the tennis courts, hiking with her dogs, or wrangling her goats away from the garden. She and her husband volunteer with Grand Rivers Humane Society and regularly open their home to foster dogs awaiting adoption. An artist as well as a physician, Dr. Kappius displays her original drawings and paintings in her clinic.

About Dr. Kirkegaard

Dr. Kirkegaard has been building meaningful connections with patients in the Grand Valley for over two decades. As a board-certified dermatologist he brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the diagnosis and treatment of all facets of diseases of the skin, hair and nails. As a practitioner in rural Colorado for the duration of his career he manages complex cases normally seen in referral centers and universities, along with advanced care of skin cancers. He prides himself on remaining up to date on diagnostic and therapeutic advancements.

Beyond his practice, Dr. Kirkegaard is an outdoor enthusiast with far too many hobbies. In the summer, he endures running trails, trying to minimize his complaints about the heat. But in the winter, you’ll find him in his happy place on some cross-country ski trail or downhill skiing looking somewhat like a yellow bird. A passionate biathlon fan and competitor, he has had the privilege of treating and working with members of the US Biathlon Team here and in Europe. Patients visiting his office can even catch a glimpse of the action through his personal collection of photographs from World Cup events. He’s a drummer and bassist, because, why not? But don’t ask him about fountain pens. You may get more than you bargained for.
