Surgical dermatology focuses on diagnosing and treating skin conditions that require a procedure. Our board-certified dermatologists perform most dermatologic procedures safely in the office using local anesthesia. Whether you need a skin biopsy, removal of a benign growth, or treatment for skin cancer, we provide expert surgical care with careful attention to both medical outcomes and cosmetic healing.

Skin biopsies are among the most common procedures in dermatology. They play an important role in diagnosing many skin conditions. If we recommend a biopsy, we can often perform it comfortably during your office visit using local anesthesia. This allows us to gather the information we need to recommend the most appropriate treatment.

Early diagnosis can make a meaningful difference for many skin conditions. That’s why our team provides timely care to give you answers, peace of mind, and the best possible outcomes.

Skin cancer diagnosis and treatment

Skin cancer is one of the most common reasons patients visit a dermatologist. Our board-certified dermatologists diagnose and surgically treat skin cancer every day. Together, we have diagnosed and treated well over 40,000 skin cancers in Western Colorado during our combined 37 years of practice.

We can effectively treat many skin cancers in our office using established surgical techniques. However, Mohs surgery offers the greatest benefit for some cancers, especially those in cosmetically or functionally sensitive areas. When that is the best option, we coordinate your care with trusted Mohs surgeons to ensure you receive the most appropriate treatment.

Our priority is to recommend the treatment that offers the best outcome for your diagnosis. We carefully balance complete cancer removal with preservation of healthy tissue, function, and cosmetic healing.
